AltPilot Privacy Policy

AltPilot (“AltPilot,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides image alt-text generation, product-image optimization, and related SEO services for Shopify merchants.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, processed, and shared when you install or use AltPilot.
1. Information We Collect
When you install or use AltPilot, we may access and process:
Your Shopify store domain and store identifier.
Shopify authentication and session information.
Product titles, handles, vendors, variants, collections, product images, image URLs, and existing alt text.
Alt-text templates, processing preferences, automation settings, and plan information.
Usage information, including the number of images processed, scan results, processing history, and error logs.
Contact information that you provide when requesting support.
AltPilot does not require or intentionally collect customer payment-card details. Payments and subscription approvals are processed by Shopify.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
Authenticate and connect your Shopify store.
Scan product images and identify missing alt text.
Generate and update image alt text.
Process individual or multiple images.
Automatically process eligible new product images when enabled.
Enforce plan limits and track usage.
Provide billing and plan-management functionality.
Maintain processing history and diagnose errors.
Secure, operate, maintain, and improve the App.
Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell merchant or customer information.
3. Artificial Intelligence Processing
If you select an AI-powered generation method, AltPilot sends the relevant product image and limited associated product information to OpenAI through its API to generate an image description.
This information is used only to provide the requested AI feature. OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring unless different retention controls apply. Data submitted through the OpenAI API is not used to train OpenAI models by default.
If you use template-based generation, product images are not sent to OpenAI for alt-text generation.
4. Service Providers
We may use trusted service providers to operate AltPilot, including:
Shopify: App installation, authentication, product access, billing, and app distribution.
Railway: Application hosting, infrastructure, and database services.
OpenAI: AI-powered image analysis and alt-text generation when selected.
These providers process information according to their own terms, privacy policies, and applicable data-processing agreements.
5. Data Retention
We retain store configuration, usage records, and processing history only for as long as necessary to provide AltPilot, comply with legal requirements, resolve disputes, and protect the App.
When AltPilot is uninstalled, associated store sessions and stored App data are deleted or scheduled for deletion, except where limited retention is legally required.
You may request deletion of your information at any time by contacting us.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
7. International Data Transfers
AltPilot and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used to protect information transferred internationally.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Request access to your personal information.
Request correction of inaccurate information.
Request deletion of your information.
Restrict or object to certain processing.
Request a portable copy of your information.
Withdraw consent where processing depends on consent.
File a complaint with an applicable data-protection authority.

9. Shopify Merchant and Customer Data
Merchants are responsible for ensuring that their use of AltPilot complies with applicable privacy and data-protection laws.
AltPilot is designed to process product and store information. It does not intentionally access Shopify customer records unless access becomes necessary for a feature expressly requested and authorized by the merchant.
10. Children’s Privacy
AltPilot is intended for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to AltPilot, our service providers, or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
